Clear Creek Rock House- Feb/Mar Chimes

The Rock House closed out 2019 with some wonderful holiday events.

This year, our annual Thanksgiving feast hosted 100 people, more than ever before! Students from our mentoring program invited their families to share a home-cooked meal and what they were thankful for. One student said “I am thankful for the Rock House. They do so much for everyone here.” Each family left the feast with full bellies and a large pumpkin pie to have with their families on Thanksgiving day.

On December 3 the mentoring program went to see “The Christmas Carol” at the Arvada Center. Before the play, the mentees got dressed up with the help of the mentors. Some of the kids had never dressed up before so to see their faces light up and their confidence soar was priceless. Mentees sat wide-eyed during the performance as they learned one of the true meanings of Christmas; selflessness.

The students got to experience another art form by seeing the beautiful sculptures and light presentations at the Denver Botanic Gardens “Blossoms of Light” on December 10. We were blessed with perfect weather and were able to enjoy the night to the fullest.

We had our Christmas Celebration on December 17, where each mentee and mentor was gifted a hooded pullover shirt with the Rock House logo. Most of the students in our mentoring program are from low-income households so to receive such a gift was an incredible blessing. The shirts will encourage togetherness and remind them they are loved and always have a home at the Rock House.

During the school break, the Rock House took students bowling, miniature golfing and sledding. All of the activities encouraged engagement outside of school, teamwork and quality time spent with one another. The program currently has 24 mentors and 24 mentees, which is amazing! We are blessed to have so many wonderful people working with these children. If you have any questions about the mentoring program or would like to be a part of it, please contact Deborah Bautista at

Our tutoring program had a Christmas party to celebrate the completion of the semester and the hard work and dedication of our students. Tutoring is free, because of your support, to students 6th through 12th grade in all subjects. We are so grateful for our tutoring staff and volunteers, without them none of this would be possible. Thank you! Please contact Cheryl Holmberg if you’d like to join our wonderful team of tutors at

The heart of the Rock House is to show the love of Jesus through all the programs we offer and in their interactions with our staff and volunteers. The Rock House would not be possible without our incredible volunteers.
