Dig In: Learning and Loving the Word of God

As a church, it is a great time for a reboot, a refresh, and a new focus on growing spiritually as a body. For the next 4 weeks, we are going to be in a series called “Dig In: Learning and Loving the Word of God”, and focusing on the fundamental way we grow in our faith: by understanding God through His Word.

The author of Hebrews says in chapter 4 verse 12, “the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart”. The Word of God is living and active and present today, but it can be difficult to see how that really matters if we don’t understand it.

We will be looking closely at the Scriptures, and answering questions many Christians have but are too afraid to ask, like:

What exactly is the Bible and why should we believe it?
What is the big, overarching message of the Bible?
Where did we get it and why are there 66 books?
What is a testament and why are there two of them?
How can any Christian read the Bible and understand it on their own?

Bring your Bible with you to church! In the services, we will be intentionally using it, and the more we read it together, the easier it becomes to read it on your own. We can develop some comfort in looking at the Bible that translates to our private readings as well.
Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be giving practical, meaningful ways to go even deeper in the Word no matter where you are today. The hope being, of course, that by falling in love with the Bible, we fall even more in love with its Author.
