Kid's Ministry- Feb/Mar Chimes

Making life-long disciples for Jesus!

The Rockland Kids & Families Ministry is in the business of discipling kids from birth through 5th grade – and we hope you’ll join us in this very important work. Officially, the word discipling doesn’t show up in the Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, but that’s not stopping us – and we hope it won’t stop you either!

A disciple is simply someone who believes in Jesus and seeks to follow Him in his or her daily life. To disciple someone means to help them to follow Jesus; to give them the teaching, the leadership, the heart, the tools, and the opportunities to hear God’s word, keep it in their heart, discuss with others, learn how to put it into action and to grow a personal relationship with Jesus Christ so they can walk with Him daily. Rockland’s Kids and Family Ministry does this through Sunday School, our Wednesday night Kidzlife program, VBS, outreach opportunities, personal connections and family nights – but it’s not our responsibility alone. The world is a pretty scary place and the messages kids hear today can easily lead them away from the truth. “Point your kids in the right direction— when they’re old they won’t be lost” (Prov. 22:6, The Message). If we, the congregation of Rockland Community Church, want our kids to know Jesus, grow in their faith, and have life-long relationships with Jesus Christ (We do! We do!), then we all need to play a role.

How might YOU help disciple the youngest people of Rockland? Greet them and get to know their names, just as you do adult church attendees on a Sunday morning. Perhaps you might help them find a scripture verse during the service if they’re searching. Prayers are always welcome, of course. More than anything though, you can choose to share your time and your faith as a volunteer. We have so many different opportunities for YOU to lend a hand – from weekly to annual events; from high energy interaction with preschoolers to deep conversations with 5th graders.

We invite you to help us connect all generations to Jesus Christ; living out Rockland’s mission and being the disciples the Lord calls us to be. We can’t wait to hear from you and have you join us in this exciting and most important work!

Joyfully in Christ,
Lori Fullmer & Jamie Toussaint

Kids Walking Daily with Jesus … is awesome!

Maybe you haven’t brought your kids to our Wednesday night Kidzlife program recently- or, maybe you’ve never brought your kids to Kidzlife. Either way, it’s time to come check us out and see what we’re up to!

Kidzlife is the Wednesday night program offered for Kids from ages 3 through the 5 th -grade here at Rockland Church. Recently, we’ve given it a little facelift- and we’re pretty excited about all we’ve got in store for the coming semester. This is a hands-on, large group, small group, laughter guaranteed, interactive, prayerful, game-filled, snack-included, crafty, deep discussion, opportunity-loaded time for kids to take a closer look at the Bible, deepen their faith and learn to walk daily with Jesus.

This semester’s program begins on February 5 and runs through May 6 (excepting March 25 for Spring Break) from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Have questions? Want to let us know we can expect to see your kid(s) there? Want to lend a hand and join in the fun? (Yes, the adults involved in Kidzlife have fun too - guaranteed!)

Nativity Play / Christmas Program

Many generations came together (from the smallest sheep to some of our oldest church members!) to proclaim the truth of the Gospel and the birth of our Savior on December 14 in this year’s Nativity Play and Christmas Program.  Our choir filled the sanctuary with beautiful music and Rockland’s kids left us all smiling ear to ear (and maybe laughing a little too) with their sweet reenactment. Thanks to everyone who participated or volunteered. Your efforts made this such a beautiful morning for us all to celebrate!
