Each September, one Sunday is set aside for this fun, intergenerational event that fills Fellowship Hall, spreads out to the front walkway and onto the lawn. Children’s eyes light up when they step outside and see the large inflatable bounce toys.
The outside play area is the highlight of the event for the kids; young and old, alike. In fact, I’m guessing there are a handful of parents who hear “when’s lunch?” on the car ride home. Once the kids find their way to the play area it is hard to pull them away!
Another highlight for many is the amazing balloon artist, Marty Jewell. She not only comes each year to the Fall Festival to share her incredible talent of creating most any design requested, but Marty is a beautiful, shining light for Jesus! Marty loves the Lord and uses her balloon art to share his love with others.
You might think the Fall Festival is designed with children in mind? Yes and no! We want the younger set to walk away having had tons of fun, but if you were to step back and look around, you will see a roomful of activity taking place. Whether you hang out in Fellowship Hall or wander to one of the outside gathering places, you will find individuals, couples, and families deep in conversation; sharing stories, laughing, or forming new relationships with someone they’ve never met before.
The Fall Festival is a favorite because it gives our Rockland community an opportunity to come together, to connect with one another, all in a fun, relaxed setting.
